The signals and brown background are a nice change.

Regarding the Brooks Sub, Steve Boyko also posted to his Confessions blog on June 23. I commented at the time that I'd photographed a lot of AWP elevators along the Brooks Sub from the vestibule of the Canadian. Still haven't posted these to Trackside Treasure, and it's now nine months later. Puttin' on my to-do list.

Regarding the unfortunateness, it was starting to sound like Charlie Sheen there for a minute! It's the first right after the bridge over the yard heading towards Deerfoot. You drive down Alyth road a bit until you reach a track crossing, that's where it was sitting. It is too bad that they didn't have her a bit farther up the tracks to the right, cause I think I could of had a couple clear shots. I drive down that road once in a while cause you get to see all kinds of other CP, SOO, CEFX and some CITX locos and other stuff. The views aren't the most photogenic, but at least you can see the stuff.

As for where I was initially standing near the 12th Street Tower, it is ust off of Portland Street. When you're on Blackfoot Trail west, take the Ogden exit but don't get on Ogden Road itself, keep turning right onto Portland Street, it the second driveway on the right. Go right to the back but be careful where you park as it there is a loading dock at the end and semi's come around once in a while. there are plenty of stall to park in. Most times there is a Sperry unit sitting on the spur just off of the parking lot.

You can also stand on the sidewalk on the bridge if you want, but you can only view the north end towards 12th Street Tower which is not much. It's too bad that the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge was removed instead of being repaired.

There is another location that I've been meaning to check out the south end of Alyth Yard but not sure it will pan out. It involves parking near the Roadking on 50th Ave and then walking in a way and crossing under Deerfoot Trail. I assume one would have some very nice views into the classification yard and possibly see a bit of the hump in the distance.

A trip to Winnipeg could in my future. Maybe in the summer. I think it would be a great adventure!

You're welcome about the shout-out & link, just returning the favor.

Cheers,jddc.trainshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18011221055194946939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7280765052181040000.post-68580303582153635852011-01-15T23:08:41.110-07:002011-01-15T23:08:41.110-07:00Nice shots of the KCS unit!
